Knight Day a Huge Success!

On Sunday 9th September 2007 Boxhill Heli Flying Club played host to owners of the Knight range of helicopters.  Knight Helicopters are manufactured by Compass Models and distributed in the UK by local firm Climb-Out Distribution.  Good weather brought a fantastic turn-out and everyone had a good time.  Amongst the fliers was Paula Francis who was keen to try the sport and so 'buddied up' and had a go...

Many well known competition pilots turned up including Patrick 'Paddy' Arnould and Charlie Cave as well as our own Trevor Burley who was showing what some of the opposition can do with his Align T-Rex 600s.

The event was initially proposed by Ade Law who unfortunately couldn't be there on the day owing to his other half being about to give birth (we'll let you off this time Ade!)  Rob Blake therefore took over the organisation so thanks to him for a well-run event.  Thanks also to Roger Hamilton from Climb-Out Distribution who kept a steady supply of spares going to repair broken models.

Lots of (unedited - sorry) pictures from the event are being posted here (sorry about the colours on that page - we don't know why they're a bit odd!)

3D Masters Practice Session

On Thursday 19th July the club was pleased to play host to various foreign pilots who were in training for the 3D Masters.  These included Curtis Youngboood, Tyler Bonta and Matt Botos from the USA and Tariq Alyafei from the United Arab Emirates.

Club members in attendance saw the first appearance of Curtis's new flybarless system which is still in development but which he used to good effect at the competition, coming second overall.  You can read more about the 3D Masters here.

Also, congratulations to our own Trevor Burley who came third in the sportsman's competition!

New Parking Spaces Created!

Enthusiastic Club Members Work to Improve Flying Site

On July 7th a large team of enthusiastic club members extended the club's all-weather track right up to the clubhouse (a.k.a. 'the shed').  They also created a new set of parking spaces that will enable members to use the field when its wet and slippery.  Well done to everyone especially Andy Shrimpton and Andy Morley who organised the diggers and dumpers that made it all possible.
