Introduction to the Club

General
Welcome to Boxhill Helicopter Flying Club.  We are a group of enthusiasts who fly radio controlled helicopters for fun and in competition. Boxhill Heli Club has been in existence for more years than anyone can remember so we can't tell you how it all began.  However, it's a thriving club, based in the surrey countryside next to the River Mole between Leatherhead and Dorking.  The club is 'heli-only', there being many r/c plane clubs available in the local area such as Epsom, Leatherhead and Elmbridge.

Membership
To be a member you must hold a current BMFA license.  Our membership is limited to 60 pilots.  Most of the time the club is fully subscribed but we do have a waiting list. If you'd like to join the club, please contact our membership secretary, Mick Saxton by email on mick.saxton at btopenworld dot com

Training and Qualifications
The club has BMFA qualified instructors and examiners and we encourage our members to take their 'A' and 'B' certificates although this is not compulsory.

Flying Disciplines
Our club members are interested in a various forms of flying.  Some of our members take part in 3D and F3C competitions, some build and fly scale helicopters and some like to fly 'just for fun'.

Visit Us
Our field is not open to the public private and to keep the flying safe and accessible we limit the membership .  However, if you would like to pay us a visit we like to see you...please come down and say hello.  Guests and potential members may fly for a cost of £10 per day.  If you do plan to come along, please see the maps on this site and pay close attention to the rules concerning gates - the farmer values his livestock!

Flying Days
We are allowed to fly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and English Bank Holidays.

Flying Times:
10am until dusk

Noise:
We have no formal noise restrictions but we try to be careful not to annoy the neighbours!  If your model is deemed to be unacceptably loud we may ask you not to fly it.
